Welcome to the June edition of VNJ . I hope you managed to get involved in raising awareness of our profession during Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month ( VNAM ). The campaign has been running for 20 years and yet we are still fighting to be recognised for our skills and knowledge . Thank you to those of you who got involved and who sent pictures of the events you held to showcase the profession to pet owners .
Our Protect the Title campaign is gaining momentum , and we recently held a panel discussion outlining what it will take for us to get our objectives through Parliament . Visit the BVNA website to see what you can do to keep this important issue at the forefront of people ' s minds . I ' m sure you will have seen that BVNA has launched the VN Profession Survey , which gives veterinary nurses the opportunity to express how they feel about the profession . If you know any RVNs or SVNs who haven ' t completed the survey yet , please direct them to https :// bvna . org . uk / blog / the-bvna-launch-annual-surveycalling-for-the-vn-profession-to-inform-its-futuredirection and encourage them to spend a few minutes sharing their thoughts .
On the subject of Congress , have you bought your ticket yet ? Visit https :// bvna . org . uk / bvna-congress-2024 to view the scientific programme , see this year ' s social events and book your place on a workshop . Remember , if any of your colleagues aren ' t already BVNA members , it will be cheaper for them to attend Congress if they become a member before they buy their ticket , so encourage them to sign up for membership .
You can complete 15 hours of CPD during Congress , but if you are unable to attend , why not complete one of our Learning Pathways ? They include Oral Health , Anaesthesia , Behaviour and , coming soon , Leadership . These courses are around 15 hours long and will help you progress your career . Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £ 50 Love2shop gift voucher . If all 23,000 RVNs and 6,000 SVNs replied , BVNA would have a wealth of information to share with veterinary stakeholders , which would provide meaningful insights into the profession and the important role we play in the veterinary team . The survey is open until 30 June 2024 and the resulting report will be published at BVNA Congress 2024 .
