BVNA receives Silver award from Investors in the Environment
Spurred on by its 2021 Bronze award from Investors in the Environment ( iiE ), BVNA embarked on the next stage in its carbon-reduction journey and has already reached its next milestone : Silver accreditation .
The iiE environmental accreditation scheme educates , engages and empowers organisations to grow a greener business model , with three award levels ( Bronze , Silver and Green ) reflecting the criteria met and the achievements made .
To achieve Silver accreditation , BVNA reviewed a number of processes , including facilitating remote BVNA Council meetings where possible , developing a travel policy , reducing the carbon footprint of its day-to-day office working practices and enhancing the digital formats of its publications .
The iiE audit summary highlighted the work of Angela Mariconda , BVNA ' s office and accounts manager , who demonstrated the association ' s commitment to improving its environmental performance and highlighted the importance of reducing the carbon footprint across the wider veterinary profession .
BVNA ' s president , Charlotte Pace , commented : “ This is an amazing achievement , and I would like to thank Angie personally for her hard work on this project . Angie recently celebrated 30 years working with BVNA , so this Silver accreditation is , in part , recognition of her work over the 3 decades she has been with BVNA .”
Nominations open for the VNJ Writer of the Year 2023
BVNA is inviting nominations for the VNJ Writer of the Year award . The award recognises authors of articles that make a difference to the veterinary profession by encouraging discussion , driving positive change , inspiring interest or prompting improvements in clinical practice .
The award is open to BVNA members and nonmembers who have written articles published in VNJ between August 2022 and July 2023 .

The VNJ Writer of the Year award forms part of BVNA ' s annual awards , which culminate in a prizegiving ceremony at BVNA Congress . The awards are a great opportunity to recognise the impact of individual veterinary nurses on the profession .
