Financial support for BVNA members and their families
As the cost of living crisis continues , BVNA is reminding members who find themselves in financial need or distress that they and their immediate family may be able to access support from the Daphne Shipman Benevolent Fund ( DSBF ).
The DSBF is a registered charity that raises funds and provides support for BVNA members and their immediate relatives and dependants in times of financial hardship or distress . Members who have held at least 2 years ' continuous membership of BVNA could be eligible for support . Unfortunately , collective claims cannot be considered , or claims to replace loss of wages for reasons other than ill health .
BVNA founded the charity in memory of Daphne Shipman , a registered veterinary nurse who was chief steward at BVNA Congress for many years . Daphne , who died from cancer in 1999 , was much loved by all who knew her .

Research Bites applications now open for BVNA Congress 2023
Research Bites is a friendly forum at BVNA Congress in which veterinary nurses and students who have undertaken research relevant to veterinary nursing can showcase their findings in posters and oral presentations .
The forum offers a fantastic opportunity to share best nursing practice , increase the evidence base available to the profession and develop presenting skills in a supportive environment . It has grown in popularity each year and , as a result , this year ' s Research Bites has three submission categories : research project ( e . g . undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation ), student veterinary nurse case reflection and registered veterinary nurse case reflection .
If you ' re currently undertaking a dissertation or research project , or have worked with an interesting or unusual case in practice recently , BVNA would like to hear from you . The deadline for Research Bites submissions is 31 July 2023 . For further information please visit : https :// bvna . org . uk / blog / research-bites-2023 .
