Additionally , ask the client to look out for the VOHC ( Veterinary Oral Health Council ) symbol on dog foods and treats , as shown in Figure 3 . VOHC is a council made up of veterinary dentists and dental specialists who give the seal of approval to dental-friendly products ( Veterinary Oral Health Council , n . d .).

Ensuring each client goes home with a detailed written plan of what they need to do will help to promote confidence and prevent uncertainty . Reassuring them that they can contact staff via the practice email or phone will also help them feel supported on the journey to better dental care for their animal . Prior to ending the clinic , booking a follow-up appointment can increase the likelihood of client compliance . Dogs only get one set of teeth and we are responsible for them .
