Gastro-intestinal disease is a common cause
8 Hours CPD for concern in clinical practice. The clinical signs can range from acute and dramatic presentations through to chronic, lower grade clinical signs. There is a wide variety of underlying conditions that can affect the gastro-intestinal tract and differentiating these is not always straightforward. With a logical and ordered approach though, a satisfying outcome is possible in many cases. In this course, we will discuss the clinical approach to gastro-intestinal disease in both cats and dogs and how best to manage the various underlying conditions. We will also discuss the role of the microbiome and how consideration of this is altering our understanding of many gastro-intestinal conditions in cats and dogs. Aimed at vets and vet nurses.

Cancer is commonly diagnosed in pets in general practice. Thanks to tremendous advances in the treatment of small animal cancer you can help pets to continue to spend more good quality time with their families despite their diagnosis of a potentially life shortening disease. This course will review risk factors for development of cancer in pets and guide you through principles of correct biopsy technique selection in order to obtain a timely and appropriate diagnosis. You will learn about common haematological paraneoplastic syndromes and coagulopathies that may represent the first presenting sign of cancer or complication. The course will then cover canine melanocytic tumours and histiocytic sarcomas that often present diagnostic and treatment challenges in their management with a practical approach and tips to their diagnosis and treatment. Management of canine T cell lymphoma and alimentary lymphoma will also be discussed through the presentation of clinical cases.
