SSCs are clear , concise and help to avoid confusion . However , their implementation requires team cooperation , and some challenges may be faced initially until they become routine practice . SSCs should be developed in accordance with the needs of the practice and its team members , and will evolve with the team . Involving the entire team will promote compliance .
Clinical governance should be maintained through periodic auditing of the SSC within the practice to ensure its full and proper use . SSCs can assist SVNs in fulfilling a number of Day One skills and competences required by the RCVS to complete their training . The knowledge obtained by SVNs throughout their training will hopefully influence the future of veterinary care by continuing to improve and develop best practice patient care .
