The VS examined Marley ' s leg and , although the VS did not think a fracture was present , cranial – caudal and lateral X-ray images of the right forelimb were taken ( Figure 2 ) to confirm this diagnosis .
Figure 3 . The right forelimb was clipped and cleaned .
Figure 2a . Cranial – caudal X-ray image of the right forelimb .
While Marley was sedated , the VS took the opportunity to give her a full health check . This included her microchip details , an examination of her mouth and teeth ( Figure 4 ), and abdominal ultrasonography to check for bladder stones and signs of oestrus . Throughout her examination , Marley was closely monitored , with her heart rate and respiration rate being similar to those of a dog .
Figure 2b . Lateral X-ray image of the right forelimb .
The X-ray images confirmed there were no fractures , so Marley ' s leg was clipped , which revealed two puncture wounds . The area was then fully cleaned and the puncture wounds were flushed ( Figure 3 ).
Figure 4 . The patient ' s mouth and teeth were checked .
