As I write , BVNA Congress 2024 is nearly upon us and the excitement is building ! Congress is unique in the way it brings so many of us together for a lively combination of learning , socialising , serious discussions and fun . Look out for photos and news from this year ' s BVNA Congress in the November VNJ Newsletter .
The official report on BVNA ' s VN Profession Survey 2024 will be published at Congress . On pages 6 – 7 of this issue , you ' ll find an overview of the data and some of the survey responses , which will help direct BVNA ' s strategy and campaigns in 2025 .
As evidenced in BVNA ' s social media posts and news , the organisation is a strong advocate for the Antibiotic Amnesty . In November , BVNA will join RUMA Companion Animal & Equine and many other organisations in encouraging people to return unused or out-of-date antimicrobials to participating veterinary practices and pharmacies . BVNA will also join the Scottish Antimicrobial Nursing Group ( SANG ) in highlighting World Antimicrobial Resistance ( AMR ) Awareness Week ( WAAW ) on 18 – 24 November 2024 . This is a global campaign to increase awareness and understanding of AMR among One Health stakeholders . This year ' s theme is “ Educate . Advocate . As always , this issue of VNJ is packed with news and a wide range of articles featuring an array of animals and fascinating insights from veterinary nurses . We ' ve been talking to lots of new authors and I ' m delighted to say we ' ve already filled some of next year ' s issues of VNJ and have some amazing articles in the pipeline .
