Conclusions
Numbers of native amphibians are declining in the UK , so it is vital to preserve and protect these species ; a basic knowledge of their care and medical treatment could help to achieve this .
The outcome for this patient was successful ( see header photo on page 52 ); the toad was released on 26 March 2022 into a safe garden with access to a pond .
