VN Profession Survey

Closing date : 30 June 2024

Protect the Title is a campaign being led by BVNA , which seeks statutory ( legal ) protection for the title ‘ veterinary nurse ’ in the UK .
As part of the campaign , BVNA is launching an annual survey to collect information to support the campaign .
• If you haven ' t already completed the survey , please take 12 minutes of your time to fill it in .
• If you know any veterinary nurses or students , please ask them to add their voice to the survey .
• The survey is a safe place for you to have your say as all responses are anonymised .
• By including your email address , you will be put forward to the prize draw to win £ 50 of Love2shop vouchers , but you can opt out of being contacted by us for any other reason .
• Imagine what a difference we could make if all 23,000 RVNs and 6,000 SVNs completed the survey .
Why your opinion matters Do you feel that your input doesn ' t make a difference ? Are you fed up with answering surveys ?
We need your help . Protect the Title is your campaign . Without veterinary nurses engaging with us , nothing will change .
You will see the results in our report published at the BVNA Congress – and when we succeed in our Protect the Title campaign . You can make a difference .
The data collected from the survey will be published in a report that will be available to all veterinary professionals and stakeholders such as DEFRA and the RCVS .
Benefits of protecting the title ‘ veterinary nurse ’
• Formal recognition of the knowledge and skills of veterinary nurses
• Enable discussions for the advancement of the profession
• Certainty that all veterinary nurses are fully accountable and working to the same standards and professional code of conduct
• Reassurance for owners that the person looking after their pet is properly trained and regulated
• Improved job satisfaction , confidence and retention of veterinary nurses to produce a sustainable workforce
• Work towards an autonomous workforce with defined career pathways
Each year , the annual survey results will add to the information held by BVNA to showcase how VNs see the profession developing in the future .
The VN Profession Survey will inform our Protect the Title campaign . The results will give BVNA evidence that truly represents the VN profession , which we can take to stakeholders .
Your opinion really does matter . You have the power to inform change .
You can become more involved by volunteering to join our focus groups to continue the conversation , by signing up at the end of the survey .
Please continue to support the VN profession by taking part in the survey and shaping the VNs of the future .
