Among the matters discussed at the first BVNA Council meeting of the year were the next steps in the Protect the Title campaign following our visit to Parliament , as well as the Under Care Review policy and the new BVNA photograph competition . The competition is open to all BVNA members . You ' re invited to submit up to five photographs of your choice from three topics each month between February and June 2024 ( see table below ). Each month , the creator of the photograph that best portrays a topic will be awarded a day ticket to BVNA Congress 2024 . Charlotte Bullard , BVNA ' s learning , development and communications manager , has created an amazing programme for Congress 2024 , which will be held on 11 – 13 October at the Telford International Centre . Put the dates in your diary for topping up your CPD and catching up with friends old and new .

This year ' s Congress theme is ‘ Progression ’. The headline stream will take place each morning , encompassing a range of inspirational topics highlighting where your veterinary

nursing career could take you . There will also be afternoon discussion panels with industry leaders , with conversations on current welfare and legislative matters .

Congress will be championing the general practitioner nurse , with lectures on dental nursing and the nursing of neurological , osteoarthritic and diabetic patients . There will also be sessions aimed at veterinary nurses in referral practice , covering disciplines such as internal medicine , surgery , oncology and neurology . Plus , we will have an exciting new stream for veterinary nursing assistants , with topics such as first aid and the application of anatomy and physiology knowledge to patient monitoring .

Lisa Brett , BVNA ' s events manager , is already working hard on the organisation of the social events and catering at Congress . Lisa has been working for BVNA for 25 years .
